This is a traditional Tendai Sect prayer bead (Juzu) handcrafted in Kyoto, Japan. Featuring the symbolic soroban-dama (abacus-shaped) design, it is crafted using premium natural materials to bring calmness and balance to your spiritual practice.
Main Beads (Omotama): Ebony Wood, 5mm × 13mm — Total 108 beads
Guru Bead (Oyatama): Ebony Wood with Fudō Myōō Sanskrit Inscription, 15mm × 16mm

Tendai Sect prayer beads are traditionally used doubled around the wrist when held. The size is measured based on this doubled length, a standard way of sizing for formal Buddhist prayer beads.

Tendai Sect is one of the major Buddhist schools in Japan, founded in the early 9th century by the monk Saichō. Its head temple is Enryaku-ji, located on Mount Hiei near Kyoto, which is also recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Tendai prayer beads are characterized by their soroban-dama (abacus bead) shape. Two tassels hang from the main bead, with both flat-shaped beads (hiradama) and round beads (marudama) arranged in the design.
