This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 10 x 8 inches (254x203mm).
It shows Queen Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh seated centrally among a massive gathering of sailors and officers on the deck of a warship. The crew is arranged in tiered rows extending high up the ship\'s superstructure. A lifebuoy in the foreground is clearly marked \'H.M.A.S. Australia\'.
The reverse has a typed caption reading \'Royal Tour. (March 13.) The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh paid an official visit to the Flagship of the Australian Navy, H.M.A.S. Australia during their visit to Cairns, North Queensland. This picture shows the Ship\'s Company photographed with the royal visitors.\' There are two red stamps for \'Copyright Fox Photos Ltd.\' with their London address. A green stamp reads \'Pool Issued By The Times\'.
