An antique Saw-In nut jar is a general-storecountertop dispenser made primarily in the 1920s. These were heavy glass jars designed so customers or shop keepers could easily scoop out salted peanuts or nuts.
This one says \"Saw-In\", and \"Pat. April 10, 1923\" on the front. It has a wood lid. I think there was a knob on the lid, but it is missing. The silver-color hinged door easily opens/closes. On the door, it says: \"IMPORTANT KEEP JAR FULL OF SUSU NUTS\".
Jar measures 12 1/4\" tall x 6 3/8\" wide x 6 3/4\" deep. The top opening measures 6\" in diameter.
The hinged door opening measures 4\" in diameter.
Heavy - weighing nearly 8 pounds.
