Vintage Novelty Cocktail Napkins, I'm guessing from the 1940's. They feature illustrated risquébar scenes. 8 Napkins total, edges are hand embroidered for a nice finish. Women, Bartenders, Cabaret Performers, Strong Men all depicted.
Highly Collectible and Sought after by Many Textile Collectors. I found them at an estate sale, and will let their new owner hand wash them and lay them flat to dry if they want. I as sending them to you as I found them. They are wrinkled from storage, but again, I will let you iron or steam them gently. I found them with a Pin in them holding them together at the top of the napkins. So, you may be able to see a perfectly round tiny hold in the top of several of them. I feel like in time, those will close, especially if you hand wash them.
7 inches tall, 5 1/2 inches wide. I have seen no stains on them, and they smell fine to me. I do feel these are French Made, though I do not know for certain. Please note the unusual numbers? Or maybe a manufacturer name? that I saw on one napkin.
