The coin features a design that pays tribute to the brave men and women who served at the US Consulate in Erbil. Erbil is the capital of Kurdistan which is a semi-autonomous region in Northern Iraq.
The coin is in a unique shape of a Kurdish Jambiya. This is a traditional dagger used by the Kurdish people that is similar to the Khanjar more popularly utilized on the Arabian Peninsula. The coin is made of 2 pieces: the “dagger” and the “sheath”. The dagger can be separated for the sheath.
The front features the American flag above the Marine Security Guard Ribbon. With the signature USMC Eagle Globe and Anchor on the hilt, as well as under the MSG ribbon.
The back features the Kurdish Flag on top of the Iraqi flag. On the hilt is the Eagle or Saladin holding a sun. This is the coat of arms of the Kurdish Regional Government.
This coin is of extremely limited number. On the blade is inscribed “090” indicating its rarity.
