GLASS and Electrical Fixture: This is a stunning authentic Italian Murano zanfirico art glass lamp by G. Giacobbe. As is rare, the lamp retains its original foil label (under the base). It was created in 5 separately made glass structures. They are decorated with a repeating swirled pattern of a band of white latticino (glass lace) alternating with bands of pure metallic copper dust (aventurine), all submerged (sommerso) between two layers of clear glass. This traditional Murano zanfirico hand-blown work was developed in Venice long ago, and it is difficult to achieve. It is perfectly matched in each successive part.
Starting at the bottom, the bell-shaped base is perfectly shaped and includes an indentation to allow passage of the cord; next, a perfectly matched ball shape, a large white latticino floral bloom, a slender zanfirico bottle-shaped part, and finally the glass creation is topped with a fine floral motif in tight white latticino work. Due to the minimal "shelf-wear" observed on the weight-bearing areas of the base, this piece was possibly packaged and stored for some time, and/or displayed very carefully over the years. The A19 bulb socket fixture appears as an original, but the wiring has clearly been modernized for safe use. It's a lovely, stunning piece of Murano artistic excellence! The lovely, off-white, lacey silk, boudoir-style lampshade is period-correct and just elegant! It looks original and is in antique condition. It has a wire spring clip to attach directly to the standard A19 bulb shape.
BONUS SHADE: To be clear, the shade is included as a free bonus item. Our price is for the glass lamp only. It looks so beautiful, though we could not resist offering it together, just as we acquired it some years ago. If you have other plans for a shade, we can easily leave it out, at your request, and ship the lamp without the shade. Any damage in shipping to the fragile shade will be at your risk. Though if you choose to have us ship it, then it will enjoy our well-known superior packaging.
Note that the photographs were taken in both warm and cool lighting to present a range of appearances. As always from OnMyWatch, the glass is damage-free, and it's even more beautiful in person! Guaranteed genuine! Excellent addition to an art glass collection, or a thoughtful gift for a special person!Â
FULL CONDITION REPORT: We thoroughly inspected this glass lamp and found no cracks, chips, nicks, scuffs, flea bites, flakes, hairlines, notable scratches, or repairs, with no evidence of grinding or restoration. Any natural indentations, bubbles, tool marks, and/or any other natural textural features are all original to this piece and normal for hand-blown glass. Wear to the base is minimal for its age. Please review all high-resolution photographs, at full size, in forming your own opinions.

PHOTOGRAPHY POLICY: Photos are considered part of the listing description. We try to give you as close to an "in-person" view as possible. That said, we shoot items in the best light and angle to show their true beauty. Any unusual white or yellow spots you may perceive on a photo are usually glare, due to our photographic technique, unless otherwise noted. If necessary for accuracy, we color-correct photos to match the actual item to our computer monitor--yours may vary. We try to show complex pieces in a variety of lighting conditions in an effort to exhibit the full range of the piece's actual appearance. Should you desire additional shots or specific lighting conditions, or clarification on an image, please feel free to send a note through the system! Photos are NOT representative of actual size. Please view all high-resolution photographs--at 100%. Any other object is included for scale only. Close-up photos will always tend to show and exaggerate minor defects. Please keep this in mind: defects seen at 100% resolution may not even be visible to the naked eye! If you have questions, please ask before offerding!Â
NORMAL WEAR: Vintage or antique items will undoubtedly show minor signs of normal wear and/or patina. When we find exceptional wear, manufacturer's defects, damage, and/or repairs, they will ALWAYS be noted in the description. Minor usage marks will not be remarkable.
OPINION: Description and condition statements are always our opinion, based on our combined knowledge, experience, and research. Statements regarding maker, age, origin, etc., particularly on unmarked pieces, should be evaluated and confirmed by you, the buyer, as you are the final judge. Though we are avid collectors, we are not experts on each item. If you know something we have omitted or misstated, please contact us to share. We strive for 100% accuracy! Your help is always welcome and appreciated!
GLASS MASTERS: The alchemy of hot glass making is an art and complex craft involving the 1150°F heat of the glass furnace, age-old and newly developed techniques, tools, and proprietary chemical formulas to achieve the amazing art glass you'll see in our store. Master glass artist status is not achieved quickly or easily. Reaching that high level takes some 20 years of learning and honing the many, varied skills of the master glassblower. And, glassblowing is rarely done alone, but nearly always requires the teamwork of the gaffer's assistants to successfully produce this wonderful artwork!
