Rare 1930s Art Deco Royal Rochester Maltese Falcon Pedestal Fan - Fully Functional!Up for sale is an incredibly rare, highly sought-after 1930s Royal Rochester Maltese Falcon circulating pedestal table fan. This iconic masterpiece of American industrial Art Deco design was only produced for a very short 2-year window around 1937, making it an exceptionally rare find for serious collectors. This fan is complete with its original streamlined chrome cage wings, blade assembly, and wood pedestal. The fan powers on instantly, blows incredible air, and oscillates smoothly side-to-side. The motor internals run exceptionally smooth and quiet. There is an intermittent, light rattle noise during operation. This appears to be simple vibration resonance from the chrome ribs sitting in the wooden base holes, or loose vintage hardware. Due to the extreme age and historical integrity of the piece, I have chosen not to over-tighten the delicate original bolts to prevent any damage.For absolute safety and everyday peace of mind, the original deteriorating wiring has been updated with a brand new power cord and plug. The fan operates flawlessly using its original built-in factory switch.Looking at the aesthetics and paint, the iconic geometric nose cone and rear rib-holder strip have been beautifully refinished in a period-correct industrial semi-gloss black finish. The original streamlined chrome cage ribs and fan blades have been hand-polished to preserve their authentic, high-contrast vintage patina. The back of the motor housing retains its original aged finish.The original wooden base has character and shows historical splits and breaks at the top crown, which is completely normal for this age. Please note that all of the pictures showing wood cracks or breaks are isolated to exactly 3 total pieces of the frame. These include the top right and left areas of both the front and back of each side of the wooden frame, as well as the bottom base crack on the left side of the frame. These pieces were structurally stabilized and glued by a previous owner. The wood has been conditioned to highlight the rich antique grain. Note that the wood receiver hole for the main mounting bolt is historically worn; it has been stabilized with a standard wood-shim method and currently holds firmly.Regarding missing components, the original small top front center logo badge is missing from the cage. Please note that if you wish to make this fan 100% visually complete, a high-quality reproduction replacement laser engraved/etched badge can easily be made by some online for around $40 (check out some ETSY artists), or possibly for pennies on the dollar if you own a Cricut machine yourself.This fragile historical artifact will be handled with the utmost respect and shipped semi-disassembled to prevent damage. The delicate chrome ribs and fan blades will be removed from the motor shaft, carefully sandwiched flat between heavy cardboard layers, and packed securely alongside the intact motor and pedestal base. Everything will be packed with extreme care using heavy-duty bubble wrap and will be double-boxed to ensure absolute safe transit to its new home.
