Rare Antique Connecticut Breweries Co Bridgeport Karl Hutter Beer Bottle 1890s For Sale

An exceptional pre-Prohibition beer bottle from The Connecticut Breweries Co. of Bridgeport, Connecticut. Beautifully embossed and manufactured for the Karl Hutter patented closure system, this handsome bottle dates to the late 1890s or very early 1900s, during the transition from traditional blob-top beer bottles to crown-top bottles.

Organized in 1896, The Connecticut Breweries Co. was formed through the consolidation of several Bridgeport breweries, becoming one of Connecticut\'s largest brewing operations during the height of the American lager era. Bottles bearing the company\'s distinctive oval \"watermelon\" slug plate are among the most recognizable and desirable Connecticut brewery bottles.

The base is embossed \"K.H. 05,\" identifying the bottle as one manufactured for Karl Hutter\'s patented bottle closure system, one of the most successful reusable beer bottle designs of the pre-Prohibition era.

This example displays beautifully with bold, deeply struck embossing, brilliant ice aqua glass, and outstanding eye appeal. Although the original Hutter stopper and wire closure are no longer present, the bottle retains its original Hutter finish and remains an exceptional display example.
