Rare antique "The Sanitaire" Iceless Ice Cream Packer manufactured by the Lansing Sanitary Iceless Packer Company of Lansing, Michigan.
This early insulated commercial carrier was designed to keep well-frozen ice cream and other frozen desserts in good condition for three to five hours without adding ice.
It retains its original turquoise-blue painted finish, wire carrying handle with wooden grip and colorful advertising label. The removable lid and insulated inner compartment are also present, making this an unusually complete example.
The original label reads:
"The Sanitaire Iceless Ice Cream by The Lansing Sanitary Iceless Packer Company, Lansing, Michigan, U.S.A."
A seldom-seen piece of early American ice-cream, dairy, advertising and general-store history. Extensive searches did not locate another exact example currently available online.
Believed to date from approximately the 1910s–1930s. An exact manufacturing year has not been antique condition with scattered paint wear, patina consistent with age and previous commercial use. The original turquoise finish remains clearly visible, and the colorful advertising label is well preserved with light age-related wear.
The wooden handle, wire carrier, removable lid and insulated inner compartment are present.
