🍶 RARE ANTIQUE WYNAND FOCKINK MINIATURE STONEWARE BOTTLE & JUG PAIR 🍶

Offered together is a rare and unusual pair of miniature brown stoneware liquor containers associated with the historic Wynand Fockink distillery of Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The smaller handled jug is clearly impressed:

“WYNAND FOCKINK”

Wynand Fockink is a historic Amsterdam name associated with Dutch genever, gin and liqueur production. The distillery traces its origins to 1679 and became one of the best-known traditional distilling operations in the Netherlands.

✨ INCLUDED IN THE PAIR:

• One tall, narrow cylindrical stoneware bottle

• One miniature stoneware jug with an applied strap handle

• Both have matching warm brown glazed surfaces and traditional utility-bottle forms

• Both are empty, and the original cork closures are no longer present

Tall bottle:

• Approximately 6” tall

• Approximately 1 11/16” in diameter

Handled jug:

• Approximately 4” tall

• Approximately 1 7/16” in diameter

🏺 DETAILS:

The handled example is a miniature version of the traditional Dutch stoneware genever jug. It has a rounded shoulder, narrow neck, rolled lip, applied strap handle and the Wynand Fockink name impressed directly into the clay.

The taller piece has a narrow cylindrical body, rounded shoulder and rolled mouth. Its matching clay color, glaze, construction and miniature proportions make it a wonderful companion to the marked jug.

These are significantly smaller than the full-size Wynand Fockink stoneware bottles most often encountered. Their miniature size and the presence of two different forms make this an especially appealing pair for collectors.

🕰️ APPROXIMATE AGE:

Believed to date from the late 19th to early 20th century, approximately circa 1880–1920. Exact production dates for these particular miniature forms have not been confirmed.

Wynand Fockink operated from Amsterdam and became well known for traditional Dutch genever, gin, brandy and liqueurs. Antique stoneware bottles bearing the company name are collected today as pieces of Dutch distilling, bottle and advertising history.

🔎 CONDITION:

Both pieces display honest age-related and manufacturing characteristics, including glaze variation, dark specks, tiny pits, surface marks, firing irregularities and wear.

The tall bottle has considerable firing or shelf residue and discoloration on the underside. The smaller jug has wear and roughness around the base and mouth, including a small area of loss or flaking along the lower base edge. No large cracks are visible in the photographs.

The irregular surfaces, slight asymmetry, glaze variations and firing marks are consistent with older utilitarian stoneware production and contribute to their antique character.
