Up for sale is an incredibly rare, beautifully preserved set of three (3) authentic vintage 1930s–1940s Disney folk art cloth dolls, featuring Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, and Donald Duck. This charming trio was meticulously hand-crafted from a home sewing pattern blueprint, perfectly matching the iconic 1930s McCall Pattern No. 91 "pie-eyed" design.
A magnificent piece of early Disneyana history, these dolls showcase true period-correct construction. All three figures feature their original internal heavy-gauge wire armatures (skeletons) and flat, formed cardboard shoe inserts, allowing Minnie and Donald to stand completely upright and unassisted. Mickey is a bit top heavy and needs support to stand. Adding to their incredible historical authenticity, the clothing is fastened with genuine vintage mother-of-pearl buttons.
Condition Details:
The dolls are in exceptional antique condition given their age. The internal wire frames remain remarkably rigid and stable, and the cardboard soles are fully intact. The fabrics are strong with no major structural damage. Mickey has some minor ripping near his shoe soles and under his armpits, pencil marks under his shoe soles and his eyes are slightly damaged. Minnie has some ripping along her shoes, pencil marks under her shoe soles and very slight damage to her eyes. Donald has rips near his feet and near his legs and one of his nostrils is ripped. Overall, there is some minor, expected surface dusting, light fabric toning, and gentle aging to the white portions of the faces, which beautifully authenticates their ~90-year history.
