Rare vintage Holt-Howard Christmas camel planter, dating to 1960 and marked #6417.
This fantastic mid-century ceramic camel features a glossy white body with gold accents, sleepy painted eyes, and its original red and gold embellished saddle decoration. The bottom is clearly marked “HOLT-HOWARD © 1960 6417” and retains the original HH JAPAN foil label.
Definitely one of the more unusual Holt-Howard pieces and an amazing example of the whimsical Christmas décor the company is known for.
Condition: Vintage pre-owned condition with age-related wear. The ceramic camel displays beautifully. The original applied fabric/metallic saddle decorations and reins show noticeable wear from age, including fraying, discoloration, loose/worn trim and some missing decorative material. There is also wear to some of the gold/silver painted accents. Please look closely at all photos, as they are part of the condition description. I have intentionally left the original decorations as found rather than attempting restoration.
