Rare Vintage Pre-pro (Early 1900s) Schlitz Amber Beer Bottle - Milwaukee For Sale

Offered is a Pre-pro (early 1900s) Amber Schlitz Beer Bottle. The bottle features a heavily embossed Schlitz logo that stretches diagonally around the bottle from bottom to top. The bottle is deep brown and according to my research displays characteristics which would indicate that it was made between 1905 and 1916. It also features heavy mold lines that stretch from the base to 1" below the lip and which curl at the top indicating that the neck was hand tooled after the bottle was removed from the mold.. Bottles with these seams were made during the semi-automatic period of bottle manufacture (1860s-1910s). Embossed on the bottom of the bottle is the marking: A.B.CO. 0143 2

A.B. CO. stands for the American Bottle Company, which operated offices and major glass plants (including in Illinois and Ohio) from 1905 to 1929.Bottles with this general block-letter "A.B. CO." marking typically date from the pre-prohibition era between 1905 and 1916.

The bottle itself measures 9 3/8" tall and is 2 1/2" inches across the base. It weighs just under 1lb. There are interesting bubbles in the glass, indicating age as well. The bottle has a few light scratches. The one flaw is a small chip on the lip on the right side of the bottle. Still, this bottle will display quite well. See pics for more detail.
