Up for sale is a beautiful piece of kitchen nostalgia—a vintage 1974 Sunbeam Front Control 2-Slice Toaster (Cat No. 20-20) in Chrome. This is the exact same iconic model my parents used when I was growing up, manufactured the very same year I was born!
This item is in remarkable, vintage condition. It comes complete with its original factory styrofoam inserts, care manual, and the unmailed warranty registration card.
* Cosmetics: The chrome finish is bright and shiny. There was a tiny speck of minor surface corrosion on the front face from sitting tucked away in its cardboard box for over 50 years. I have carefully cleaned it off, and it looks fantastic now (please refer closely to the photos to see the current condition). Aside from that tiny spot, the toaster is practically flawless.
* The Box: The original cardboard box is included and remains in great, sturdy condition with vibrant graphics.
* Functionality: I plugged the unit in to test it, and the elements do fire right up! However, please note that the mechanical front lever currently sticks down a bit and does not release/pop up smoothly on its own. Because it has been sitting completely idle since 1974, the internal mechanism likely just needs some food-grade machine oil and to be manually worked up and down a few times to loosen up the factory grease.
This is an incredible find for collectors or anyone looking for a pristine vintage centerpiece for a retro kitchen.
