Great beauty Hume was fixture of UK films and stage between the great wars. Very tempting in pre-code outings such as “Gambling Ship” with Cary Grant.Hume was married to Ronald Coleman and latter George Sanders.Janet Jevons was the studio name of photographers Emilie Janet Tyrell (1887-1972) and Ruby Caroline Jevons (1894-1974). A combination of elements of both their names.Tyrell was born in Nantwich, Cheshire, to shopkeepers John and Sarah Aston. Jevons was born in London to James and Martha Jane Jevons. Jevons worked as a secretary in Dorothy Wilding\'s studio before leaving to start her own portraiture business with Tyrell. The pair collaborated from 1921-49. Their first published photograph was printed inIllustrated Sporting and Dramatic Newson 6 December 1921. Based in London, the studio was first at 66 Piccadilly, later moving to Clifford Street and multiple addresses on New Bond Street. It was popular with celebrities and members of high society in the 1920s and 30s. Anthony Buckley acquired the photographic negatives of Janet Jevons in his purchase of the studio in the 1950s
