Exceptional vintage artisan porcelain finger vase by noted miniature artist Ron Benson, signed and dated 1991.This unusual miniature is modeled as a sculpted hand holding a vase or vessel, sometimes referred to as a finger vase. The hand is rendered in a soft blush-pink glaze and rests on a white pedestal base accented in pale blue and gold. Delicate hand-painted gilt decoration encircles the upper portion of the vase.Despite its extremely small size, the piece has wonderful sculptural detail and is an excellent example of fine artisan dollhouse porcelain.The underside is clearly signed “RON 91,” dating the piece to 1991. Ron Benson was a respected miniature porcelain artisan and IGMA Fellow whose work included finely made vases, urns, figures, animals, and other decorative porcelain pieces. Period miniature publications also document his Ron Benson Porcelain Miniatures business in Richmond, Virginia. A U.S. quarter is shown in the photographs for scale. The piece is appropriate for approximately 1:12 scale dollhouse display.Condition: Very good vintage condition overall. No obvious major chips, cracks, or repairs noted.
