The detailed architectural scene features numerous churches, onion domes, bell towers, traditional buildings and trees, surrounded by ornate gold-colored floral decoration. The box has a traditional black lacquer exterior with a bright red lacquer interior and hinged lid.
The underside is hand-inscribed in Cyrillic:

This box is being sold AS IS due to condition.
There is significant cracking/crazing throughout the painted lacquer surface, as well as a prominent area of peeling/flaking and surface loss in the central portion of the painted scene, particularly over the large church.
There are also scratches, finish wear, small losses and other signs of age and previous use.
The box still displays beautifully as an example of Kholuy lacquer miniature painting, but it is not being represented as being in excellent or restored condition. It may benefit from professional conservation/restoration.
Please examine all photographs carefully, including the close-up images, as they are an important part of the condition description.
