Set of 3 gorgeous antique plates made by the Tressemann & Vogt (T & V) factory of Limoges, France. The green underglaze backstamp dates these plates to the period 1892-1907.
The decorations on the floor of these plates are entirely hand-painted and feature detailed pink and yellow roses, green leaves and various flourishes, with a pair of butterflies in the foreground. Each plate is slightly different from the others. On one plate, the butterflies are painted blue with white enameled details; on the other two plates, the butterflies are done in raised gilt enamel, with more gilt enameling around the edges. The artist has signed underneath each painting, and it looks like "E. Refeik."
The plates in this set are octagonal in shape and measure 8 1/2" across. They are in as pristine a condition as I have ever seen plates like this...no chips, cracks or wear to the paintings. They are just beautiful!
