Scarce 1880s “The Autocrat\" cedar 50 cigar box is in fair condition For Sale

This scarce 1880s “The Autocrat\" cedar 50 cigar box, measuring 4 3/4” x 8 5/8” x 2 3/8”, is in fair condition. Much of the binding remains. The hinge is slightly loose. The interior lid graphics are in good condition, but there are pen marks from a previous owner. The cigars were manufactured by Julius Saarbach Cigar Maker, New York, NY in Factory 34, 3rd District, NY. The graphics for this very attractive box were designed by A. Hoen Lithographers, Baltimore, MD. They feature a portrait of a Turkish ruler (Autocrat) standing with his drawn sword. On an easel to his right, is the Saarbach trademark image of a cuff-linked hand holding a lit cigar.
