This delicate and meticulous work demonstrates the true essence of the art of Miraku Kamei XIII, featuring white and black glazes. Pounder-shaped, this flower vase has black over straw-white glaze. The high firing temperature reached in a climbing kiln has enhanced the vitrification of glazes to create a superb finish. To add to this, glaze deformation caused by ash lends the work a deeply natural look. It showcases a sleek and sculptural design, with a pinched and banded waist. A stunning form in a Modernist Japanese design of combining what informs their work with abstract form. It measures approximately 11” high x 5.5” diameter and is gently used with minimal wear and is signed on the base.
