-In 2011, Pabst introduced “Blast by Colt 45”, a fruit-flavored malt beverage with a 12% alcohol by volume (ABV) in a 23.5-ounce can. -Snoop Dogg signed on to endorse and promote this product as its brand ambassador. -At the time of launch, the product faced criticism: 19 states’ attorneys general argued that the drink appeared to target under‐age drinkers, due to its fruity flavors, high ABV, and large can size—drawing parallels to other controversial “alcopop” drinks.-Snoop’s contract (signed in 2011 for a three-year term) included: A payment up front (~US$250,000) plus additional payments (e.g., about US$20,000 every 10th mention of the drink in social/social-media/TV/concerts). A royalty on each case sold of Blast by Colt 45.-A clause stating that if Pabst sold its Colt 45 operations before January 2016, Snoop would get a portion of the sales proceeds from that sale.-The dispute arose when Pabst sold its Colt 45 malt‐liquor business (which included the Colt 45 brand) to new owners (led by Eugene Kashper and an investment firm). Snoop claimed this sale triggered his entitlement under the contract and he sued for a share of the proceeds.
The case was settled in October, 2016. From what I have gleaned, the merchandise was never meant to be released but some slipped out. This particular sign, as I understand, was owned by an employee and never opened. I purchased it about 10 years ago with the intention of using it in a 'man cave' but it just sat in the box. I never used it and found it still sitting in the box on a shelf when clearing out items to move. I plugged it in and checked the pull chain, it's a brand new sign. Note that this is LED backlit and not neon.
