Matched pair of small decorative belt keepers/loops made in sterling silver with applied gold accents. Seller scratch testing indicates the silver tests as sterling and the gold decoration tests as 18K. Unmarked, with no maker or fineness stamps identified. Handmade construction includes folded silver sheet, twisted-wire edging, raised corner beads and applied geometric gold decoration.
Each keeper is approximately 10 mm across the decorated face; combined weight is 8.25 grams. The hollow rectangular construction is designed to slide over a narrow belt or strap.
These have an older Western-style handmade character, but no maker or specific date can be documented, so they are not attributed to a particular silversmith or period. Substantial dark patina, surface scratching, wear to the gold decoration and handmade irregularities are present.
