This is an official radio log from Thursday, April 16, 1970 which features the entire day of the over-the-air transmission of both WMMS and its sister AM station WHK. Back then, the FCC required radio stations to record their entire day of programing. These tapes almost never survive, especially from a groundbreaking and influential station like WMMS in Cleveland.
This is a two channel, seven-inch tape. One channel features WMMS and the other channel features WHK. Because an entire 24-hours of programming has been recorded on this tape, it was recorded at a very low speed, which means that the sound quality and fidelity is far below what you would hear on the radio. Additionally there are clicks on the tapes to mark the corresponding time. I gave a few of these tapes to a friend of mine who was a notable deejay at the station in the 1970s, and he transferred them to digital for his own personal use.
This historical tape should be professionally transferred to digital. For optimum sound quality, do not attempt the task with your home equipment.
This is a very rare item. I am currently clearing out my own personal collection. I purchased this tape at a local sale about 25 years ago.
