SUPERMAN’S GIRL FRIEND, LOIS LANE #70, November 1966, DC Comics. First Silver Age appearance of CATWOMAN.
“The Catwoman’s Black Magic!” Catwoman returns to comics for the first time in twelve years, in her first battle with Lois Lane, with the Penguin as special guest villain and a Batman and Robin cameo. She turns Superman into a cat. The splash page itself nods to the Catwoman of the 1966 Batman TV show and movie, which is exactly why DC brought her back. Art by Kurt Schaffenberger, signed on the splash; edited by Mort Weisinger.
To be exact about the key: Catwoman debuted in Batman #1 (1940). This is her first Silver Age against the indicia, photographed in shot 09. It reads:

Published monthly, with the exception of March, June and December by NATIONAL PERIODICAL PUBLICATIONS, INC., 2nd & Dickey Sts., SPARTA, ILL. 62286. National Periodical Publications is DC’s correct corporate name for 1966. No barcode. Original 1966 first printing.
CONDITION: GD 2.0. This is a read, well-loved copy. The flaws, first:
- The centerfold has come loose from the staples. It is present and complete, just no longer held in. It stays inside the book in the bag and board. Shot 11.
- A split at the top staple on the spine, about 1/2 inch, with further short splits and fraying along the spine. The cover is still attached at both staples. Shots 04 and 12.
- Several colour-breaking creases, including a long diagonal one from Lois’s dress down to the bottom edge and another near the right edge by her raised arm. Shots 01 and 02.
- Heavy surface wrinkling across the cover. Shot 02 is lit from the side to show it.
- A short tear on the front right edge, about 3/8 inch, with a small lifted flap. Shot 14.
- A short tear on the back cover’s right edge near the bottom, about 1/2 inch. Shot 13.
- A small abrasion with surface paper loss on Lois’s dress hem, about 1/8 inch.
- All four corners blunted, the bottom left frayed. Shots 05-08.
- Tanning and soiling on both covers, tan interior pages.
What holds up:
- Complete: every page is present, including the loose centerfold. Shots 10 and 11.
- No large pieces missing, and the cover is attached.
- Colours still read well for a book in this grade. Shot 01.
