An interesting group of three original pre-State Zionist pamphlets by Chaim Weizmann (1874–1952), the great Zionist statesman who would later become the first President of the State of Israel.
Published between 1936 and 1942, these pamphlets document Weizmann\'s evolving public argument for the Jewish national home during one of the most consequential periods in modern Jewish history — from the Palestine Royal Commission of 1936 through the darkest years of the Holocaust.

1. THE JEWISH PEOPLE AND PALESTINE — JERUSALEM, 1936

Weizmann\'s important statement before the Palestine Royal Commission, better known as the Peel Commission.
The Commission had been appointed by the British government to investigate the causes of unrest in Mandatory Palestine. Its eventual report in 1937 would make the historic recommendation that Palestine be partitioned into separate Jewish and Arab states.
This pamphlet therefore records Weizmann making the Zionist case directly to the Royal Commission at a crucial moment in the history of the British Mandate and the development of the idea of partition.

An important wartime Zionist pamphlet, published while European Jewry was being destroyed in the Holocaust.
Weizmann addresses the Jewish future and the central role he believed Palestine must play in solving the increasingly desperate Jewish problem.
The text originally appeared in Foreign Affairs in 1942; this London publication by the Jewish Agency for Palestine represents its contemporary separate pamphlet publication.
The historical context makes this an especially poignant document: Weizmann was arguing for a Jewish national future in Palestine at precisely the moment when the catastrophe confronting European Jewry was becoming apparent.

HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Taken together, the three pamphlets provide an unusually evocative snapshot of Chaim Weizmann\'s Zionist advocacy between 1936 and 1942:
1936: Weizmann appears before the Palestine Royal Commission and makes the case for Zionism and the Jewish national home.
1939: His argument is republished as British policy toward Jewish immigration to Palestine reaches a critical turning point.
1942: With European Jewry facing catastrophe, Weizmann argues explicitly for Palestine\'s role in solving the Jewish problem.
Within six years of the final pamphlet, the State of Israel would be established, and Chaim Weizmann would become its first President.

CONDITION
All three are original period publications, not modern reprints or facsimiles.
The pamphlets show age and use.
The 1936 Jerusalem first edition has noticeable wear to the original brown wrappers, including creasing, edge wear, small tears and some loss, particularly around the corners.
The 1939 London edition also shows wear and some corner damage.
The 1942 pamphlet shows expected age-related wear.
