TheA. D. Baker Company which designed and developed the valve gear wasalso located in Swanton, with a series of patents issued from 1903 to1912. Apparently, by the 1920s, full production of Baker valve gearshad been shifted to Pilliod. Historical records indicate that therespecter company founders, Baker and Pilliod, were friends andperhaps partners in some business ventures. Abner Baker was listedas Vice-President of Pilliod Co., and his brother L.R. Baker waslisted as Mechanical Engineer.
