Evans (1945–2025) was a respected Southern California helicopter historian, researcher and professional helicopter photographer, a long-term member of the Vertical Flight Society and Vertical Aviation International, and co-author with Robert S. Petite of The Bell 47 Helicopter Story. His Santa Ana archive preserved extensive military, commercial, experimental and historical helicopter material.
