Andrii Tarasovych Ivanyk (December 12, 1982 – September 17, 2025), known by his callsign \"ADAMAT,\" was a man of unyielding resolve.
A native of Luhansk region, he made his defining choice back in 2014. When the shadow of occupation fell upon his homeland, Andrii categorically refused to live under the fake flags of the so-called \"LPR.\" Leaving behind his home, familiar streets, and his entire past life, he departed for the free territory of Ukraine to fight for its future.
In 2015, \"Adamat\" joined the ranks of the \"Azov\" Special Operations Detachment. He served there for over seven years, until 2022, enduring the fiercest hotspots of the Eastern Front, forging his spirit in relentless battles, and earning unquestioned authority among his brothers-in-arms. For him, military service was not just a duty—it was a personal fight to reclaim his home.
With the onset of the full-scale invasion, Andrii continued his combat path within the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa (as shown by the sleeve patch featuring the Hetman\'s coat of arms and the motto \"Through sabers we claim our right\").
In the Pokrovsk sector—one of the hardest and bloodiest areas of the frontline—\"Adamat\'s\" unit held a formidable defense. During an enemy assault, as superior Russian forces attempted to break through their positions, Andrii displayed extraordinary heroism. He engaged in close-quarters combat, covering the evacuation of wounded comrades and holding his firing position to the very end. However, he did not return from that battle.
Months of agonizing uncertainty brought his family the most heartbreaking ordeal. Hopes and daily prayers were shattered by grim reality: \"Adamat\" was listed as missing in action. Only recently, following complex repatriation procedures and forensic identification, was the Hero\'s body finally returned to his family to receive final military honors.
A mother bowed in indescribable grief over a coffin draped in the blue-and-yellow flag, young children who will never embrace their father again, and battle-hardened comrades standing in solemn silence—this is the price of our freedom.
The memorial plaque forever preserves the dates: 12.12.1982 – 17.09.2025. Andrii \"Adamat\" Ivanyk returned home on his shield, but his name, ribbons, awards, and combat patches will forever remain in the chronicle of Ukrainian valor. Eternal memory and glory to the Hero!
