Offered is an authentic hand-signed vintage Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) 8” x 10” sepia publicity photograph of acclaimed Hollywood actress Una Merkel.
The photograph has been personally inscribed in fountain pen:
“Best wishes to June from Una Merkel.”
Included is the original Certificate of Authenticity from R&R Enterprises Autograph sales (R&R sale) authenticating the signature.
What makes this example especially appealing is the handwritten provenance on the reverse, which notes that the autograph was obtained:
“Autographed outside Roosevelt Hotel’s ‘Cinegrill’ at private opening. September 25th, 1935.”
While this notation is not part of the COA itself, it provides wonderful period provenance and historical context, indicating the autograph was obtained during Hollywood’s Golden Age.
