A truly rare and exceptionally unusual Soviet vintage gas table lighter, marked VATRA-901.
This striking spherical lighter dates to the Soviet era, most likely the 1980s, and represents the bold futuristic design language of the Atomic Age / Space Age period.
The completely spherical body is approximately 8 cm in diameter, with a metal band running around the center. The glossy red finish and futuristic geometric form make this an outstanding example of Soviet industrial design.
Extremely rare. Comparable examples are virtually impossible to find on or in the open internet. This is a genuine collector's piece for anyone interested in Soviet design, vintage lighters and unusual industrial objects.
The lighter features a high-quality Soviet copy of the classic Feudor lighter mechanism, with a mechanical flint ignition system. The mechanism is fully functional, the lighter is refillable with gas, and the flint can be replaced.
