This memorial sportsmanship award trophy belt buckle is a piece of California Equestrian history. The award was given out in honor of Pete Doell, an esteemed member of the California horse performance and reining community. The award was established after his passing. The recipient of this annual award represents that years member who most highly exemplifies the ultimate standards of excellence, integrity, fair play and good character in the show arena. This is the actual buckle that was awarded for the year 1990. It is a custom made Broken Horn Brand sterling silver overlay buckle that is HUGE and features a very rare open filigree design. It measures 5 1/2β x 4 1/8β, fits belts up to 1 1/2β wide and weighs about 8 ounces or half a pound.
The rare & custom made features of the buckle include: hand engraved bright cut scrollwork, raised gold electroplated or filled lettering, accents and banner, blue rhinestone floral setting, open filigree design, and a twisted gold toned roped border.
