Very Unusual Rare Modified First Issue 58 Pattern Canteen Bottle Carrier PouchThis item is so unusual and bizarre that I have cleaned it very carefully to preserve its character, and made no changes to the features. This pouch was originally a first issue canteen carrier, as can be seen from the webbing type, inside flap pocket and darned holes where the turn button fastening was. Somebody has then added a strap and buckle from a first issue large pack side pocket, a bit like the second issue. Then they have hand stitched a side pocket and wide belt loop out of what appears to be cotton drill uniform fabric. Lastly, it has been camouflaged in the most interesting “squaddie-cam” or “sharpie-cam” pattern I have seen, a sort of sparse tiger stripe.
The extent and specific type of alterations make me think about potential special forces use. Also worth noting that all of the alterations are old, and the pouch has seen heavy subsequent use.Please examine the photographs. No returns please, I’m selling my collection to make space.
Has been hand washed with unscented detergent.
