This Vietnam war genuine Year 1966 brushed chrome Zippo lighter PAT. 2517191 is in good working condition with solid cam spring, decent hinge, sound click and excellent snap. Matching Zippo PAT. 2517191 insert sparks. It just needs Zippo fluid. In the front, it features inscribed \" DA NANG 1966 VIETNAM \" and US Army MACV-SOG logo. In the back, inscription reads:

Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group (MACV-SOG) was a highly classified joint U.S. special operations organization established on 24 January 1964 to conduct covert reconnaissance, direct action, psychological warfare, and other special operations in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and North Vietnam.

In 1966, MACV-SOG maintained operations in the Da Nang area. Its maritime

e operations element was based at Da Nang, while launch sites for ground reconnaissance operations were located at Hue-Phu Bai, Khe Sanh, and Kham Duc.

Missions into North Vietnam had begun as early as 1 February 1964 under Operation Plan 34A, and cross-border operations into Laos commenced in September 1965 under Operation SHINING BRASS.

The later MACV-SOG facility known as Forward Operating Base 4 (FOB-4) near the Marble Mountains southeast of Da Nang was established in 1967 and became the headquarters for Command and Control North (CCN).
