Guard Station
Sing Sing PrisonOssining, NY
Gustavus W Pach Photographer858 vintage stereoview of Sing Sing Prison.Features tough looking prison guard with a cane and top hat. This original item is being sacrificed from my personal collection. Hudson River Scenery This antique original stereoview is impressive. View is amazing in 3D with the perspective looking at a bridge with guard. Appears to have inmate quarry workers on the left. Very rare. Here is YOUR chance to own an ORIGINAL!This rare antique fine art stereoview photograph features some amazing architecture. Famous inmates include bank robber, Willie Sutton. Serial killer, Albert Fish. Son of Sam, David Berkowitz. Female killer, Ruth Snyder. Sing Sing Correctional Facility is a maximum security prison operated by the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision in the village of Ossining, in the U.S. state of New York. It is located about 30 miles north of New York City on the east bank of the Hudson River. In 1970, the name was changed to the "Ossining Correctional Facility", but it reverted to its original name in 1985. "Sing Sing" was derived from the name of a Native American tribe, "Sinck Sinck" (or "Sint Sinck"), from whom the land was purchased in 1685. Sing Sing prison confines about 1,700 prisoners. There are plans to convert the original 1825 cell block into a time specific museum.Would be great for family genealogy for a relative looking to preserve an interesting story of the heritage of a black sheep in the family. Would also be of interest to Penal law historians, True Crime enthusiast, prison guard, correctional badge collector, governor, graphic artist or other historical society. Would love to see this go to a family member looking to preserve family history through genealogical research. This scarce piece of pre- prohibition era memorabilia would make an excellent addition to your historical vintage photography collection. Gives insight inside America's early evolution of corrections.
