Vintage 19” Russian Folk Costume Porcelain Doll Kokoshnik Brocade Traditional For Sale

This is a 19-inch decorative Russian/Eastern European folk-costume doll, and it is quite elaborate. The glossy porcelain or ceramic head and hands have hand-painted features—large brown-red eyes with detailed lashes, arched brows and bright red lips. The black lower legs/boots appear to be molded rather than porcelain.The costume is the strongest feature. She wears a rich bronze-brown traditional-style dress with metallic gold puffed shoulders, floral woven ribbon trim, red rickrack, gold braid and a wide fur-like band at the waist. The tall kokoshnik-style headdress is made from metallic gold brocade with ornate gold trim. Her long brown braided hair, green drop earrings, dark green/gold beaded necklace and decorative front panel add considerably to the display quality. Underneath are additional floral-print garments and a white lace-trimmed petticoat.
