Front: Color lithographed architect's rendering captioned in red at upper left: "Grand Central Depot (Proposed) New York City." The Beaux-Arts terminal is shown in three-quarter view with its triple arched windows, paired colossal columns, and the crowning sculptural group above the cornice. Crowds of pedestrians in period dress fill the sidewalks, early open automobiles pass in the street, an ornate lamp standard rises before the entrance, and a single-truck trolley car runs across the foreground. Adjacent buildings appear at either side. The station opened in February 1913, so this is a pre-completion promotional view.
Reverse: Divided back, postally used, printed in red. Headings read "POST CARD.," "THIS SPACE FOR COMMUNICATION," and "ADDRESS ONLY," with a partial publisher imprint along the left edge. Green one-cent Washington stamp tied by a wavy machine cancel; circular postmark reads TIMES SQ. STA., N.Y. / NOV 21 / 9:30 PM / 1912. Message in ink: "Where the trains start for Manchester." Signed W. W. Robertson [surname uncertain]. Addressed to "Harold Newton, 129 S. Main St., South Manchester, Conn."
Condition: Postally used, 1912. Age toning and light soiling throughout, with a chipped and creased upper right corner on the front, corner wear at the lower left, a crease across the reverse, and light staining in the address area. Front image remains crisp with good color. Gray panels at right are scanner artifacts, not card defects.
