Vintage 1921 Literary Digest Magazine Cover Marshal Foch WWI Kuppenheimer Ad:
$16.99

A double-sided piece of 1920s publishing and advertising history: the detached front/back cover, pairing a WWI hero's portrait with a vintage menswear ad from one of the era's top illustration studios. Cover only, not the complete magazine.

• Publication: The Literary Digest, Vol. 71, No. 5 (Whole No. 1645)
• Cover date: October 29, 1921
• Front: Portrait of Marshal Ferdinand Foch, Supreme Allied Commander of the WWI Allied armies, by official U.S. Army war artist Joseph Cummings Chase (signed "Paris" in the plate)
• Back: Full-page color Kuppenheimer Good Clothes ad, in the bold graphic style associated with the J.C. Leyendecker studio, a hallmark of early-1920s menswear advertising
• Publisher: Funk & Wagnalls Company, New York & London
• Format: Cover only (front and back), detached from the interior pages
• Condition: Fair - foxing and toning, edge wear and small tears, original subscriber mailing label on front (see photos)
• A genuine period piece for WWI history, Art Deco advertising art, and early 20th-century collectors

Condition notes: Fair. Visible foxing/staining across both sides, chipping and small tears along the edges (heaviest at the top right corner), and an old paper mailing label adhered to the upper right of the front. Sold as-is given its age.

Keywords: Antique, Ephemera, 1920s, WWI History, Ferdinand Foch, Joseph Cummings Chase, Kuppenheimer, Leyendecker-style Illustration, Menswear Advertising, Art Deco, Magazine Cover, Americana.
