A rare, highly collectible piece of midwestern industrial history: an authentic 1925 stamped zinc commemorative plaque manufactured by the renowned Gerock Bros. Manufacturing Co. of St. Louis, Missouri.
Measuring approximately 6\" x 3.25\", this small architectural-style sample or holiday souvenir features deeply embossed, stylized text reading \"HAPPY NEW YEAR 1925\" bracketed by distinctive arrow indicators.
The bottom cartouche displays the company\'s full maker\'s mark:
\"GEROCK BROS. MFG. CO. / ST. LOUIS, MO. / STAMPED ORNAMENTS & STATUARY\"
Historical Note:
Gerock Brothers was famous for creating large-scale architectural sheet metal ornaments, cornices, and statuary for buildings across the United States during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Holiday-specific stampings like this from 1925 are exceptionally hard to find and make incredible display pieces for collectors of St. Louis history, holiday antiques, or architectural salvage.
Condition:
The plaque is in decent antique condition with no severe tears or cracks in the metal. It has uneven edges and small dents. It boasts a spectacular, authentic dark gray zinc patina with subtle hints of oxidation from age. The reverse side features the crisp, incuse mirrored imprint from the original die-stamping process. There are small factory-stamped holes on the left and right margins, making it perfectly ready for mounting, framing, or shadow-box display.
