Kujirashaku" is a traditional Japanese unit of measurement used exclusively for textiles and garment making, distinct from the standard Japanese foot (Kanejaku).
This particular ruler features dual markings showing both "1 Kujirashaku" (鯨一尺) and "37cm". During Japan's transition to the metric system between the 1930s and 1950s, rulers were manufactured with both traditional and metric units. This dual marking confirms its age to the early to mid-Showa period (circa 1930s–1950s).
