Wytrwal Coal & Oil was established in Amsterdam in 1926 by Michael J. Wytrwal, a prominent Reid Hill businessman and community leader. Wytrwal also operated interests in the furniture and pharmacy businesses advertised on this bag. His granddaughter, Mary Anne Krupsak, later became New York State’s first woman lieutenant governor. Based on the company’s history and the early local telephone numbers printed on the bag, this piece appears to date approximately to the 1930s–1950s.Original vintage paper sack with visible age, creasing, small tears/holes and wear consistent with its age and original use.
