Alfred Dunhill Art Deco Octagonal Tobacco Humidor & 4-Pipe Stand, Circa 1930–1930
Vintage Alfred Dunhill wooden tobacco humidor with an integrated stand for four smoking pipes, dating approximately to 1930–1940.
The octagonal wooden body features a warm brown finish, attractive grain, and geometric Art Deco styling. Light-colored circular accents decorate the lid and front. The central tobacco compartment has a metal liner and a hinged lid fitted with a sponge holder for humidification. Two side racks accommodate four pipes, with shaped lower supports for the pipe bowls.
The underside retains a metal maker’s plaque reading “ALFRED DUNHILL — LONDON — NEW YORK” and a soft fabric covering. The metal humidifier fitting bears a patent marking that appears to read “PAT. 2052826.”
Condition is as shown in the photographs. The wooden surfaces have scratches, scuffs, and finish wear consistent with age and use. The interior metal liner shows spotting and oxidation, and the fabric-covered base shows wear. The small, light-colored circular insert on the front has fine surface crazing.
The sponge inside the lid is a later replacement and is not original to the humidor. It shows staining and deterioration. The airtight seal and humidifying performance have not been tested.
A distinctive addition to a Dunhill or tobacciana collection, or an attractive accessory for a vintage desk or study.
