Vintage 1930s Art Deco-era translucent cherry red Catalin/Bakelite die, approximately 5/8” (16mm) and weighing 5.8 grams.
Beautiful deep cherry-red phenolic resin with strong translucency. When held to a light source, the body produces a distinctive warm orange/red glow. The die also has the characteristic phenolic odor when heated.
Features inset cream-colored pips with noticeable age-related crazing and surface character. The red body also shows age-related crazing, wear and softened edges consistent with age and use.

The material is believed to be Catalin/phenolic resin. Catalin is commonly referred to as Bakelite in the vintage collectibles market, although Catalin is the more precise material designation for this type of translucent colored phenolic resin.
