Offered for sale is a vintage lot of red magician’s sponge balls, believed to date from approximately the 1940s–1950s era.
The lot includes approximately 16 sponge pieces/balls in varying shapes and sizes. Some have become compressed or misshapen from long-term storage, while others retain their rounded shape, as shown in the photos. Despite their age, the sponge material remains soft and compressible.
The maker is unmarked and unknown. Based on their apparent age, construction and style, they may possibly be associated with Ireland Magic or another period magic supplier, but no maker attribution can be confirmed.
Included is the plain vintage cardboard box in which they were found/stored. It is unknown whether this box was originally supplied with the sponge balls.
