$19.99

Brand/Publisher: Colonial Airlines; Pleasure Planned by Vacationland; printed by York Litho Company, New York, United States.

Item: Original 1956-1957 fold-out travel brochure promoting Colonial Airlines package tours to New York City with connecting city itineraries for Washington, D.C., Boston, and Philadelphia.

Front cover design features the bold New York City title with secondary city names Washington, Philadelphia, and Boston, a black-and-yellow illustrated skyline with skyscrapers, bridges, and the Statue of Liberty, the Colonial Airlines logo, the phrase Leave Any Day via Colonial Airlines Division of Eastern Air Lines, and a small Pleasure Planned by Vacationland seal.

Reverse panel presents fine-print general conditions for the tours under a Your Travel Agent heading, including sections on registration deposits, early bookings, children, baggage, and services not included, together with a Go Now ... Pay Later time pay plan notice featuring American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) and other emblems, plus a Printed in U.S.A. line and effective dates of December 19, 1956 to December 19, 1957.

When fully opened, the central side displays a large yellow sunburst graphic surrounding the text East Side, West Side ... All around the Town ... Take Your Choice, describing suggested itineraries and featuring photographs and descriptions of leading New York hotels including the King Edward, Henry Hudson, Shelburne, Victoria, Lexington, Park Sheraton, and Waldorf Astoria.

Standard Tour Rates and Deluxe Tours tables at the bottom outline per-person prices for 3 days 2 nights, 5 days 4 nights, 7 days 6 nights, and extra days, with separate columns for single and double occupancy and notes on additional cost per room per day for air-conditioned rooms at each hotel.

Additional interior panels titled there's always something to do on a New York City tour list features included in standard and deluxe packages, describe activities for 3-day, 5-day, and 7-day tours, and incorporate line-art illustrations of the Statue of Liberty alongside black-and-white photographs of the skyline, civic buildings, parades, and stage performances.

The opposite side covers Washington, D.C., with 3 days 2 nights tour details and a Williamsburg from Washington, D.C. extension, and offers similar panels for Boston and Philadelphia, each with hotel choices, rates per person, and small vignette drawings of the Capitol, Library of Congress, Independence Hall, Supreme Court, and other landmarks, while a Fabulous ... that's New York City feature emphasizes Broadway, sightseeing, and nightlife with a stylized United Nations building graphic.

A final column headed Add to your Vacation Pleasure by Combining Tours to Various Cities via Colonial Airlines lists sample air itineraries and combined tour costs from Albany, Burlington, Montreal, and other departure points, highlighting the brochure's function as both airline and hotel promotional piece.

Format and appearance: large mid-century multi-panel fold-out travel brochure printed in black and yellow on white paper on both sides, designed for distribution by travel agents and the airline and now suitable for collectors of New York City, Washington, D.C., Boston, and Philadelphia tourism and vintage Colonial Airlines ephemera.

Notes: Appealing example of 1950s United States air travel, hotel promotion, and East Coast city tour advertising, ideal for display with period aviation memorabilia or mid-century graphic design collections.
