Vintage lot of 14 Japanese kaiju monster menko cards dating to the 1960s and 70s during the height of Japan’s giant monster boom.This group from various tokusatsu productions features a wide variety of classic kaiju-style creatures including dragons, sea monsters, horned beasts, fire monsters, and others. These types of menko cards were extremely popular with children in Japan during the 1960s & 70s and were often inspired by the growing popularity of giant monster cinema and television shows such as Godzilla and later series like Ultraman. The colorful illustrations show kaiju destroying buildings, battling other monsters, and emerging from the sea or sky.The lot includes both traditional round menko and rectangular battle cards, each featuring vivid mid-century Japanese monster artwork typical of the Showa era.Please see photos for card condition.
