Up for sale is a vintage Buck Knives Model 103 Skinner, a classic American hunting and skinning knife made in El Cajon, California. The tang is stamped with the three-line "103 / BUCK / U.S.A." mark, with no date code. Buck used this mark before 1986, when the company still used 440C stainless steel. The knife has Buck's signature black phenolic handle, a polished cast aluminum guard and pommel, and maroon and aluminum spacers at both ends. The 4" upswept skinning blade is solid and straight, with a full, intact tip. The blade shows light surface scratches consistent with honest use and sharpening. The handle is tight, with no cracks or chips, and the aluminum fittings show only minor scuffs.
It comes with a black leather Buck 103 sheath. The sheath has "BUCK" embossed on the front, "103" stamped on the back, a snap retention strap, and a belt loop. The leather is dark and supple, with scuffing, surface scratches, and edge wear consistent with its age. The stitching is intact and the snap works. [Confirm the snap closes.]
Overall length is about 8ΒΌ". The blade is about 4".
