Vintage 1990 Mosser Glass Amethyst Salt Chick / Mini Hen on Nest
Beautiful vintage Mosser Glass 3” Salt Chick in a rich, deep Amethyst color, produced in 1990.
This little hen has wonderful molded feather detail and sits on the classic scalloped-edge nest. The glass is very dark in normal lighting but reveals gorgeous purple, plum amethyst tones as light passes through it. The photos do a great job of showing how much the color changes depending on the lighting.
An especially nice feature is the maker’s mark. The bottom carries the older Mosser “M” with a line underneath, rather than the later M-inside-the-state-of-Ohio mark.
The solid Amethyst version appears to be harder to find on the secondary market, particularly in this older 1990 production.
