This classic mid-century piece of Tyrolean/Gröden folk art portrays an elderly peasant woman wearing a traditional babushka headscarf and a brilliant orange apron, carrying a nesting chicken inside a chiseled wooden basket.
The sculpture showcases beautiful, historic craftsmanship—from the deep, expressive character lines carved into her face to the clean vertical tooling on the reverse of her coat.
