The interior is lined with red floral-print fabric. Two brass-tone hinges secure the lid. Bottom is stamped “Basketville Vermont” with a patent number visible above the Basketville mark.
Approximately 10\" wide x 6 tall at the basket body, with the raised handle bringing the overall height to roughly 10½\", based on the ruler photos.
Basketville operated in Putney, Vermont and became known for traditional woven wooden baskets and decorative hand-painted designs. Comparable vintage examples are often described as basket purses, sewing baskets or decorative storage baskets. Surviving examples show a wide variety of folk-art-style painted floral, bird and fruit motifs.
Condition:Very good vintage condition with normal age and use wear. The woven wood body remains attractive with some minor irregularities and wear. Interior fabric has age/use wear. Hinges remain present. Please review photos for the best assessment of condition.
