A fantastic collection of three vintage petrol advertising light boxes featuring three iconic motoring brands:
BP Super – Shell – Esso Petrol
All three have substantial painted metal light-box cabinets with moulded/translucent three-dimensional advertising faces. The logos and lettering are raised rather than simply printed onto flat panels, which can be clearly seen in the close-up photographs.
Although slightly different in overall size, all three boxes are approximately 9.5cm deep and look superb displayed together.

• BP Super: 39cm × 39cm × 9.5cm
• Shell: 37cm × 37cm × 9.5cm
• Esso Petrol: 32cm × 38cm × 9.5cm
The signs have not been restored or repainted and retain plenty of age-related character and patina. There are scratches, marks, paint chips/loss, surface wear and ageing/discolouration to the faces and cabinets. Please study all photographs carefully as they form an important part of the description.
The Shell light box has been opened for photography and retains an older-style internal incandescent bulb arrangement. No manufacturer\'s or date markings have been found externally.
Based on their branding, construction and appearance, I believe these are period petroliana pieces, likely dating from around the 1950s/1960s. However, I do not have original paperwork or definitive manufacturer/date markings, so the exact age cannot be guaranteed and buyers should make their own assessment from the photographs.
They make a fantastic display together and would be ideal for a petroliana or automobilia collection, classic car garage, workshop, showroom or vintage advertising collection.
The sale is for all THREE light boxes together – BP Super, Shell and Esso Petrol. They are not currently being offered separately.
Electrical condition: Due to the apparent age of the electrical components, the signs are being sold primarily as collectible/display items. The electrics have not been professionally safety tested and should be inspected by a competent person before being connected to the mains or used.
